DNI AND PASSPORT AT THE SAME APPOINTMENT: REQUIREMENTS

This combined procedure issues or renews the DNI and then the passport in a single appointment. The requirements for both documents apply and both fees are payable (12 euros DNI + 30 euros passport, unless exempt). As the DNI is obtained on the same day, a second photograph is not required for the passport.

NATIONAL IDENTITY DOCUMENT (DNI): REQUIREMENTS

IMPORTANT: The appointment is personal and non-transferable. The holder must attend the Documentation Unit in person on the day of the appointment. The official appointment is free of charge; only the statutory DNI fee is payable.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE APPOINTMENT

  • Renewal on expiry: the previous DNI and a recent photograph. Renewal may be processed within the last 180 days of validity, and at any time once the document has expired.
  • First issue: a full (literal) birth certificate from the Registro Civil (Civil Registry), issued solely for the purpose of obtaining the DNI and no more than 6 months old, a recent photograph and a certificate or extract of registration on the municipal register (padrón), no more than 3 months old. If you are obtaining the DNI as a naturalised citizen and hold a TIE or an EU Citizen Registration Certificate with a NIE, you must present it.
  • Replacement for loss, theft or damage: a recent photograph and the police report, if one was filed; otherwise, the Documentation Unit will complete an administrative report on the spot. Detachment of the chip is considered damage. The replacement retains the validity of the document it replaces, unless that document is within its last 90 days of validity.
  • Change of address: previous DNI, photograph and a certificate or extract of municipal registration (padrón), no more than 3 months old. This is not required if you do not object to the municipal register being consulted and your registration is at least 2 months old; it is nevertheless recommended that you bring it.
  • Change of personal (filiation) details: previous DNI, photograph and a certificate from the Registro Civil (Civil Registry), no more than 6 months old, evidencing the change.

PHOTOGRAPH

  • Recent (no more than 2 years old), in colour, 32 x 26 mm, plain uniform white background, taken facing the camera, with the head completely uncovered and without dark-lensed glasses. The forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and chin must be clearly visible. Head coverings worn for religious or medical reasons are accepted provided the oval of the face remains uncovered.
  • At many Documentation Units the photograph is taken on the spot (renewals with no change of details, with the previous DNI and its chip in good condition). Please bring a photograph anyway in case the office does not have this facility.

FEE

  • Issue fee: 12 euros. It may be paid in cash or by card at the Documentation Unit, or online when requesting the appointment at citapreviadnie.es.
  • Free of charge: renewal of a valid DNI due to a change of personal (filiation) details or address; any issue on proof of large-family status (valid large-family certificate or card); children under 14 who belong to a household applying for the Ingreso Mínimo Vital (Minimum Living Income). If any of these applies to you, DO NOT pay in advance.
  • NOTICE: owing to changes in the card payment system, the Police recommend bringing the amount in cash.

MINORS AND PERSONS WITH SUPPORT MEASURES

  • Minors and persons whose legal capacity is judicially supplemented: the procedure is carried out in the presence of the person holding parental authority, guardianship or the support measure (or an authorised representative), who must present their DNI, TIE or EU Citizen Registration Certificate together with their passport or national identity document. Children under 14 collect the DNI accompanied; those aged 14 and over collect it in person.

RESIDENTS ABROAD

  • Spanish citizens resident abroad prove their address with a certificate from the Diplomatic or Consular Mission where they are registered (no more than 3 months old). On moving their residence to Spain they must renew the DNI in order to update the address.

VALIDITY

  • 2 years (children under 5), 5 years (ages 5 to 29), 10 years (ages 30 to 69) and more than 10 years from age 70. The electronic certificates of the DNI expire after 2 years.

INABILITY TO TRAVEL

  • If the holder cannot attend because of illness or dependency, a family member may request the mobile unit by submitting the application form, a photograph and a medical certificate or report at any issuing office.

PASSPORT: REQUIREMENTS

IMPORTANT: The appointment is personal and non-transferable. The applicant must attend the Documentation Unit in person. The passport is issued in a single visit, within a few minutes. The official appointment is free of charge; only the statutory fee is payable.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE APPOINTMENT

  • The applicant's valid DNI (physical or digital version). If the DNI has expired, it must be renewed beforehand or at the same appointment (combined DNI and Passport procedure).
  • A recent colour photograph, 32 x 26 mm, plain uniform white background, taken facing the camera, without dark-lensed glasses or garments that prevent identification; it must clearly show the eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and chin, on quality photographic paper. It is not required if you have obtained or renewed the DNI on the same day.
  • Renewal or replacement of a VALID passport: you must present the previous passport for cancellation. If the full passport booklet contains a valid visa, check first with the consulate that issued it.
  • Loss or theft: police report of the incident or a statement at the Documentation Unit. The validity of the first replacement is limited to that of the lost passport; for subsequent losses it may be limited to 6 months.

FEE

  • 30 euros (first issue, renewal, loss, theft, early renewal or damage). It may be paid in cash or by card at the Documentation Unit, or online when requesting the appointment at citapreviadnie.es.
  • Free of charge for large-family beneficiaries: present the valid large-family certificate or card (of the applicant, whether an adult or a minor). If this applies to you, DO NOT pay in advance.
  • NOTICE: owing to changes in the card payment system, the Police recommend bringing the amount in cash.

MINORS AND PERSONS WITH SUPPORT MEASURES

  • The express consent of ALL persons holding parental authority or guardianship is required. It is given before the Documentation Unit (together or separately, at the same or different offices) or before a notary or other authorised official (providing a certified copy). The person giving consent must prove their identity with a valid DNI (or a valid NIE or residence document if a foreign national) and the relationship of kinship or guardianship with an official document. The authorisation form can be downloaded from dnielectronico.es.
  • Minors without a DNI (not required to obtain one): a full (literal) birth certificate from the Registro Civil (Civil Registry), issued no more than 6 months previously, annotated that it is issued for the purpose of obtaining the passport.

WHO CAN OBTAIN ONE

  • All Spanish citizens, unless there is a court ruling that deprives or restricts their freedom of movement or prohibits them from leaving the national territory, or a reasoned restriction imposed by the Ministry of the Interior.

VALIDITY

  • 2 years (children under 5), 5 years (under 30) and 10 years (from age 30). A new passport may be requested when the previous one is within its last 12 months of validity, or earlier if you need a minimum validity required by the destination country (providing proof of the circumstance).

DNI Y PASAPORTE EN LA MISMA CITA: REQUISITOS

Este trámite conjunto expide o renueva el DNI y a continuación el pasaporte en una sola cita. Se aplican los requisitos de ambos documentos y se abonan ambas tasas (12 euros DNI + 30 euros pasaporte, salvo exenciones). Al obtener el DNI el mismo día, no es necesaria una segunda fotografía para el pasaporte.

DOCUMENTO NACIONAL DE IDENTIDAD (DNI): REQUISITOS

Fuente oficial: Dirección General de la Policía (dnielectronico.es y citapreviadnie.es). Lea atentamente antes de reservar la cita.

IMPORTANTE: La cita es personal e intransferible. Es imprescindible la presencia física del titular en la Unidad de Documentación el día de la cita. La cita oficial es gratuita; solo se abona la tasa legal del DNI.

QUÉ DEBE LLEVAR A LA CITA

• Renovación por caducidad: el DNI anterior y una fotografía reciente. La renovación puede tramitarse dentro de los últimos 180 días de vigencia y en cualquier momento si ya está caducado.

• Primera inscripción: certificación literal de nacimiento del Registro Civil (expedida a los solos efectos de obtener el DNI, con antelación máxima de 6 meses), una fotografía reciente y certificado o volante de empadronamiento (antelación máxima de 3 meses). Si obtiene el DNI como nacionalizado y posee TIE o Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión con NIE, deberá aportarlo.

• Duplicado por extravío, sustracción o deterioro: una fotografía reciente y la denuncia, si la hubiera interpuesto; en caso contrario, la Unidad de Documentación cumplimentará una denuncia administrativa en el momento. El desprendimiento del chip se considera deterioro. El duplicado conserva la validez del documento sustituido, salvo que esté dentro de los últimos 90 días de vigencia.

• Cambio de domicilio: DNI anterior, fotografía y certificado o volante de empadronamiento (máximo 3 meses). No será necesario si no se opone a la consulta del padrón municipal y el empadronamiento tiene al menos 2 meses de antigüedad; se recomienda llevarlo igualmente.

• Cambio de datos de filiación: DNI anterior, fotografía y certificado del Registro Civil (máximo 6 meses) que acredite la variación.

FOTOGRAFÍA

• Reciente (antigüedad máxima 2 años), en color, tamaño 32 x 26 mm, fondo uniforme blanco y liso, tomada de frente, con la cabeza totalmente descubierta y sin gafas de cristales oscuros. Deben verse claramente frente, cejas, ojos, nariz, boca y mentón. Se admiten prendas de cabeza por motivos religiosos o médicos si dejan el óvalo del rostro descubierto.

• En muchas Unidades de Documentación la fotografía se toma en el momento (renovaciones sin cambio de datos, con el DNI anterior y su chip en buen estado). Aporte igualmente una fotografía por si el equipo no dispone de este recurso.

TASA

• Tasa de expedición: 12 euros. Puede abonarse en efectivo o con tarjeta en la Unidad de Documentación, o por vía telemática al solicitar la cita en citapreviadnie.es.

• Gratuito: renovación con DNI en vigor por cambio de datos de filiación o de domicilio; cualquier expedición acreditando la condición de familia numerosa (título o carné en vigor); menores de 14 años integrados en una unidad de convivencia que solicite el Ingreso Mínimo Vital. Si está en uno de estos casos, NO realice el pago por adelantado.

• AVISO: por cambios en el sistema de pago con tarjeta, la Policía recomienda llevar el importe en efectivo.

MENORES Y PERSONAS CON APOYOS

• Menores de edad y personas con capacidad judicialmente complementada: el trámite se realiza en presencia de quien ostente la patria potestad, tutela o medida de apoyo (o persona apoderada), que deberá aportar su DNI, TIE o Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión junto con su pasaporte o documento de identidad de su país. Los menores de 14 años recogen el DNI acompañados; los mayores de 14 lo recogen personalmente.

RESIDENTES EN EL EXTRANJERO

• Los españoles residentes en el extranjero acreditan el domicilio con certificación de la Representación Diplomática o Consular donde estén inscritos (máximo 3 meses). Al trasladar la residencia a España deberán renovar el DNI para actualizar el domicilio.

VALIDEZ

• 2 años (menores de 5 años), 5 años (de 5 a 29 años), 10 años (de 30 a 69 años) y más de 10 años a partir de los 70 años. Los certificados electrónicos del DNI caducan a los 2 años.

IMPOSIBILIDAD DE DESPLAZAMIENTO

• Si el titular no puede acudir por enfermedad o dependencia, un familiar puede solicitar el equipo móvil presentando el formulario de solicitud, una fotografía y un certificado o informe médico en cualquier oficina de expedición.

PASAPORTE: REQUISITOS

IMPORTANTE: La cita es personal e intransferible. Es imprescindible la presencia física del solicitante en la Unidad de Documentación. El pasaporte se expide en una única comparecencia, en unos minutos. La cita oficial es gratuita; solo se abona la tasa legal.

QUÉ DEBE LLEVAR A LA CITA

• DNI en vigor del solicitante (versión física o digital). Si el DNI está caducado, deberá renovarlo antes o en la misma cita (trámite conjunto DNI y Pasaporte).

• Una fotografía reciente en color, tamaño 32 x 26 mm, fondo uniforme blanco y liso, tomada de frente, sin gafas de cristales oscuros ni prendas que impidan la identificación; debe mostrar claramente cejas, ojos, nariz, boca y mentón, en papel fotográfico de calidad. No es necesaria si ha obtenido o renovado el DNI el mismo día.

• Renovación o duplicado de un pasaporte EN VIGOR: debe presentar el pasaporte anterior para su anulación. Si la libreta agotada contiene un visado en vigor, consulte antes en el consulado que lo concedió.

• Extravío o sustracción: denuncia del hecho o comunicación en la Unidad de Documentación. La validez del primer duplicado se limita a la del pasaporte extraviado; en extravíos posteriores puede limitarse a 6 meses.

TASA

• 30 euros (primera obtención, renovación, extravío, sustracción, anticipo o deterioro). Puede abonarse en efectivo o con tarjeta en la Unidad de Documentación, o por vía telemática al solicitar la cita en citapreviadnie.es.

• Gratuito para beneficiarios de familia numerosa: presente el título o carné de familia numerosa en vigor (del solicitante, mayor o menor de edad). Si es su caso, NO realice el pago por adelantado.

• AVISO: por cambios en el sistema de pago con tarjeta, la Policía recomienda llevar el importe en efectivo.

MENORES Y PERSONAS CON APOYOS

• Es necesario el consentimiento expreso de TODAS las personas que ostenten la patria potestad o tutela. Se presta ante la Unidad de Documentación (juntos o por separado, en la misma o en distintas oficinas) o ante fedatario público (aportando copia auténtica). Quien presta el consentimiento debe acreditar su identidad con DNI en vigor (o NIE o documento de residencia en vigor si es extranjero) y la relación de parentesco o tutela con documento oficial. • Menores sin DNI (no obligados a obtenerlo): certificación literal de nacimiento del Registro Civil expedida con antelación máxima de 6 meses, con la anotación de que se emite a efectos de obtener el pasaporte.

QUIÉN PUEDE OBTENERLO

• Todos los ciudadanos españoles, salvo que exista una resolución judicial que prive o limite la libertad de movimientos o prohíba la salida del territorio nacional, o una limitación motivada del Ministerio del Interior.

VALIDEZ

• 2 años (menores de 5 años), 5 años (menores de 30 años) y 10 años (a partir de 30 años). Puede solicitarse un nuevo pasaporte cuando el anterior esté en los últimos 12 meses de vigencia, o antes si necesita una validez mínima exigida por el país de destino (acreditando la circunstancia).

Frequently asked questions

How does your service work?

We search and book your appointment with the details from the form. After you submit, we text you a tracking link so you can check status, make changes or cancel. When a slot opens, we book it in your name and notify you. We are a private service: we do not sell appointments and we are not the government.

How long does it take to get an appointment?

It depends on the procedure and province. We search 24/7; often a slot appears within days, but busy offices or constraints (a specific office…) can take longer.

How much does it cost?

The management fee is €18.90 (VAT included) for any available office — the fastest option. Choosing a specific office adds €5.00 (total €23.90). That fee is charged only if we secure your appointment. If you already have another active request, each extra one costs €5.00 up front (non-refundable). Official government fees are not included.

Do I have to pay before I have the appointment?

The first active request is not charged up front: we book the appointment first, then you pay the management fee. Each extra active request costs €5.00 now, before that search starts.

Can I cancel or change my request?

Yes. After you submit, you get a tracking link by WhatsApp: from there you can check status, edit your details or cancel. To change procedure, province or office: cancel and start a new request.

I already have a pending appointment. Can I still use the service?

If you already hold an active DNI or Passport appointment, the police booking system usually blocks a second one. Cancel it first, then start the search with us.

Can I keep searching on my own?

Yes. If you get an appointment first, cancel your request from the tracking link so we do not book another one with your details.

What documents do I need?

It depends on the procedure: for the DNI and Passport you need a recent photo, your previous document and, in some cases, a padrón or birth certificate. Each procedure page shows the official information. We are not a law firm or a gestoría.
